Bone Health Program

The World Health Organization has rated osteoporosis (loss of bone mass) as the #2 health problem in the world (after heart disease). If you have osteoporosis or think you might be at risk, consider our Bone Health program.

Extensive medical research has proven that resistance or weight-bearing exercise clearly increases bone mass, and thus retards or prevents osteoporosis. New Heights has an array of exercises and movement therapies that can help keep your bones strong and healthy.

Physical Evaluation

Your first step is to get a comprehensive musculoskeletal and biomechanical structural evaluation. Emphasis will be on identification of spinal restrictions, soft tissue and myofascial restrictions, muscular imbalances, and proprioceptive imbalances.

The information gathered at your evaluation will help us design a program to increase bone strength, release myofascial constrictions, improve flexibility, reduce pain, increase range of motion, and feel more relaxed and aware of your body.

Physician Consultation

Osteoporosis is a disease caused by many factors, some of which are under your control. There are a number of dietary, lifestyle, metabolic and hormonal factors that you can change and thus greatly reduce your risk of bone loss.

Therefore we may recommend that you consult with a physician who is experienced in dealing with these important health factors. Exercise alone may not be sufficient to prevent osteoporosis.

Treatment

Your therapeutic program will depend on the results of your evaluation. We may recommend one or more of the following:
