COV TreatmentCervical Ocular Vestibular System
Serving Portland OR | Vancouver WA
What is COV?
COV stands for Cervical Ocular Vestibular System and consists of a laser light on your head that is aimed at different lines/circles on poster boards. We are proud to say that COV was designed by our very own physical therapist and clinic owner Donna Gramont, PT, MOMT, OCS.
When and why do we need COV?
Healing neck tissues through repeated movements (exercises) increases its ability to withstand greater forces. This includes the weight of the head, movements of the head, and postural holding of the head. The basic tissue repair alone may not normalize coordination of your eye movements with your neck motion. These exercises help with the coordination pattern.
The head moves with nods and shakes as we communicate with each other. The movement of the head requires the coupling of eye movements. The COV exercises have been designed to mimic these normal coordination patterns. Our goal is to recondition, functionally repair, and accomplish eye and neck movement without pain.
What conditions can be treated with COV?
- MVA Whiplash Injuries
- Chronic Neck Pain
- Coordination or Instability
- Cervical Post-Surgical Intervention
- Visual Disturbances or Concentration
- Equilibrium or Dizziness Conditions
- Cervical and Upper Extremity Related Conditions
