Michele Wren, Licensed Massage Therapist
Michele is an experienced practitioner with a keen interest in therapeutic bodywork. Her specialties include: Structural Integration, Myofascial bodywork, injury prevention and recovery, Jin Shin Jyutsu (an acupressure system), and Frequency specific microcurrent. She is especially interested in how tension in the neurovascular system effects muscle tone and function, neurobiology, and all things fascia.
Michele is a graduate of Reed College with a BA in Biology. She studied massage at East West college and has been practicing as a licensed therapist for over 19 years. She has worked with doctors, nurse practitioners, physical therapists, chiropractors and acupuncturists. She managed an award-winning spa where she practiced massage on Cape Cod for six years.
Michele became certified in Structural Integration in 2013 and teaches as an assistant in Tom Meyers’ Anatomy Trains school. Structural Integration (SI) looks at the body as a whole and its relationship with gravity. It uses postural and movement assessments to form strategies about how to work with the fascial system to bring better alignment and function to the entire system. SI is movement and body education, along with fascial interventions, and is done on and off the table. Client and practitioner are actively engaged in this dynamic process which is done in a series of 3 or 12 sessions.
Michele has a black belt in martial arts, and before she began learning to influence the human structure, she worked remodeling houses. She believes that our bodies are our homes and that a clearer understanding about our own structure and all the many relationships contained within can make for a much better life.
